Candy Cane Lane is an established tradition in the city of Prairie Village. The tradition started in 1958 and has been growing in spectators every year. Every house on Candy Cane Lane is decorated, and each home has at least one 4-foot-tall candy cane along the side of the street. The homes vary on levels of holiday decorations and lighting. The crown jewel of Candy Cane Lane is the traffic circle at the end with a 50′ tall Christmas tree with lighted packages beneath it.

Though the last few years, the number of displays has dropped but the holiday spirit is still alive. There are still many Christmas displays. Some still have the large “Christmas cards” which gave the area its nickname. Several of the displays are large enough that they would be worth a visit on their own, and there are breathtaking sections of the subdivision.
